This fall, we have the opportunity to affect real progress and as such, I have placed my hat in the ring to run to become a Bernie Sanders Delegate, representing Michigan's 4th District at the Democratic National Convention. It would be my honor to serve the 4th District's Democratic members as a selected delegate and I look forward to honoring the trust placed in me.
Below you will see my official candidacy statement, which will be emailed according to MDP District Election plans

Candidate Statement

My fellow Democratic colleagues, thank you in advance for your time and consideration. My name is Mark Bignell & I'm the father to 3 special needs children, an over the road blue-collar trucker, and husband to a partner that inspires me daily. I was raised in the rural setting of Palo Michigan, later moving into the 4th district after a mortgage foreclosure, making my family unsheltered in the winter of 2000. After which we rebuilt our lives from nothing, using the hard painful lessons of survival, uncertainty, and fear to forge a future through unconventional times and possibilities. These experiences have molded my empathy, insight, and knowledge to represent the challenges of the people at our national convention in Milwaukee this year.

If my name is familiar it's possibly due to your awareness of my campaign for Michigan State Senate in the 33rd District during the 2018 election. I ran on a truly FDR Democratic Party platform and soundly won my primary, going on to one of the most serious general election challenges a district GOP candidate had faced up to that point. I learned during that campaign the value of running on issues that would directly improve the lives of families, workers, students and the disenfranchised in my district and across Michigan. I know how to challenge entrenched Republicans, and I know how to represent Democratic ideals in a politically diverse and challenging district. If elected to a Party Leader position or Delegate, I will take these lessons to our convention, representing the people of the 4th district to the fullest of my ability.
